Behind the Fabric: How Agility Apparel Builds Performance Into Every Piece

Why Fabric Matters

The quality of any performance piece doesn’t start in the workshop — it starts with the fabric. The right fabric is the difference between gear that feels average and gear you never want to take off.

Trade Shows and Fabric Mills

Every season I travel to Hong Kong to walk the trade shows. These halls are full of fabric mills chasing volume orders from global giants. I’m there chasing something different — mills willing to work with a small independent brand, where quality comes before margin.

I spend hours running my hands across swatches, pulling samples under the light, and asking questions about technology and sourcing. One of my best finds was a mill producing a polyester–spandex blend that became our AeroFlex™ fabric. Lightweight, breathable, and sweat-wicking, it now powers pieces like the Apex Athlete Singlet.

I also ask about sourcing and certifications. Wherever possible, I choose mills that prioritise responsible practices, because performance shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet.

Built for Australian Conditions

In Sydney’s heat and humidity, fabric can’t just look good — it has to perform. I test swatches for stretch, breathability, and durability. Can it survive a 10K in 28°C? Will it hold shape after 50 washes? These are the standards I set before we release a piece.

Colour trends catch my eye too. Not for fast fashion, but for timeless shades that athletes actually want to wear. A slight shift in tone can change how you feel heading out the door.

Quality First, Always

Choosing quality before margin means tighter numbers and slower decisions. But it also means every cap, singlet, and short we release carries the standard I believe in: fabrics that work with your body, not against it — and are produced by mills that share a commitment to ethical standards.

Behind every Agility product page is this process — days of travel, hours of conversations with mills, countless rejections, and the decision to say no more often than yes.

The Bottom Line

When you train, recover, or simply move through the day, you deserve gear that performs as hard as you do. Explore our latest performance caps and AeroFlex™ apparel, built from the fabrics that pass my toughest tests.
